1956
FMC Snc, today F.I.M. SRL was founded in Civitanova Marche in 1956 as a small Engineering company specialized in the manufacturing of brackets for leaf springs used in the railway industry.
The company was opened as a union of five friends who were left unemployed after their former employer, an engineering firm from Civitanova Marche had closed the forging department of the company.
The company consisted of 15 expert hand-forgers that manufactured for clients of their former employer.
In addition to customers, the former employer also provided the first machines from the closed department including; the hand hammers, manual lathe and milling machines.
The immediate availability of these resources allowed the new company to provide a complete product with a quality level similar to the older companies in the industry.
The backbone of the company then, was the extensive experience as skilled forgers of the founders; Federico Fornari, Elio Raccosta, Ettore Selmarini, Giuseppe Marinelli and Ezio Muzi
1977
In 1977, Federico Fornari and sons Domenico and Cesare Fornari acquired full control of the company shares.
1992
The brand F.I.M srl was founded in 1992 by new shareholders; Federico Fornari and Ivan Fornari Mirella Testasecca as the majority shareholder of the new private limited company.
Given the decline of the market and a situation of monopsony, the new shareholders decided to cease the activity of hand forging for a process of transition to the hot steel molding by purchasing the first machine for molding.
